Wow, very very …

Wow, very very coincidentally, if you google “the end of an era”, you’ll find the video of the same name, published by the HIMYM official YouTube channel. And its about, you guessed it right, the cast talking about the end of the series. It’s either the similarity in both mine and the directors’ high intellect, or the human race isn’t as diverse as we think it is. I think it’s the former personally…

The end of an Era

That utterly sad moment when you finish a book or a TV series and you have no idea what to do with your life anymore.
You are left purposeless, still in deep thought and in no position to carry on with life’s daily chores. It is obvious that eventually, you will get over why Fred had to die in the Battle of Hogwarts, how Sherlock faked his death, why Augustus had to die or why Tom and Jerry ended up on a railway track in the last ever  Tom and Jerry episode.

So when you are ever in such a situation when you just cannot stop thinking about a book or a TV show, the best thing to do is, sit down and do exactly that. Yes, think about what didn’t happen, what could have happened, what should have happened and why everything that happened actually did. Because this way, you truly honor the memory of that book or TV show. You spent hours reading and watching it, eating tons of nachos and salsa in front of the screen or staying awake till 3 am reading that book. And all of a sudden, you want to forget about it and get on with your life? Is that how you will treat that amazing piece of literature/screenplay?

You see, a good book, movie or a TV episode is exactly like a delicious dish. Either you can gobble all of it down in a hurry, pay the bill and get on with your life, or you can chew slowly, cherish every flavor of that lovely apple pie with all the flavors blending in so perfectly in your mouth, and when you finally feel content, that is when you realize how amazing that pie was.

You may be over-excited about how the story ended or it may be the other way around and you may be extremely upset by the way the events took a turn. But in the end, you felt that yes, it was an amazing journey with this TV/Book series for all these years and you will always cherish the great time you had with it.

You will never figure out why, in the end, Katniss and Gale didn’t end up together. Or how Ted and Robin did.

But It isn’t the destination that matters, its the journey that counts.

Farewell HIMYM! It was a good ride 🙂

Forks = Future

Okay, I know this isn’t exactly the best topic I should be reviving my not-very long-dead -blog with, but it may be one of the biggest discoveries mankind may have stumbled upon. Or actually, I may have stumbled upon. Using a fork is truly one of the best ways to efficiently consume this deliciously tantalizing lactose dessert.

I know this made you hungry. Go get fat.

I know this made you hungry. Go get fat.

If you aren’t familiar with the pressure=thrust/area equation, you’re too young for this blog. Or rather, too lucky. Go watch TeleTubbies kiddo.

Just kidding! The point being, area is inversely proportional to pressure. Less area equals more pressure. But the reason why I am involving Physics in here is because many of us have lost brave metal, plastic or titanium spoons to ever adamant frozen hard ice cream which may be the only thing on this planet even diamond cannot cut through. My condolences with the families of those brave-now horribly-bent spoons.

Did you know there's an ice cream cafe called Bent Spoon? GOD how insensitive is that?!

Did you know there’s an ice cream cafe called Bent Spoon? GOD how insensitive is that?!

So if diamond can’t cut through cookies and cream, what possibly can?  of course it’s your fork you genius! Forks are the best way to eat ice cream and there’s so many reasons that I’d have to make one of my, now -almost- trademark lists again.
Which I’ve been told can be quite a monotonous read, so I shall stick to these disorderly paragraphs. Hmmph.

Alright, so forks. Now, as I mentioned before, since forks have pointy edges, they apply more pressure to the Ice cream and let you easily scrape through without having any disfigured cutlery around your kitchen. Now you may say that forks don’t collect as much ice cream as spoons do, and that is exactly what I’m coming to.

You see, we all are so concerned with healthy living, eating and exercising, yet when it comes to ice cream, the entire human race (and cats usually) have to succumb to the superiority of sweetened lactose. THE WORLD LOVES ICE CREAM but SADLY OH EVER SO SADLY it MAKES US FAT. And as you may have already tried and failed to do, eating ice cream in small portions is as hopeless as sitting and watching your country’s parliament in session.

Soooo, back to forks, you can easily eat ice cream in small amounts with them while still making sure that their anatomical dignity is maintained. And so is yours. (ha ha ha, I know)

Did I mention, they also add a nice texture to your beautiful ice cream? Go ahead, eat your Tiramisu with a fork today and take your glimpse…..at the future.
^^

Why talking (and typing) a lot is a good thing

Everyday, you think of about 70,000 things, from your neighbor’s annoying dog to tomorrow’s lunch. Now if you do some basic math, that comes comes down to around 72 thoughts a minute. Seventy two! that’s more than there are ice cream flavors. Or the countless number of ways you can pronounce Schooner (seriously, how do you?). Now, if you still doubt the efficiency of your brain, then you truly are hard to impress.

To express yourself needs a reason, but expressing yourself is the reason.

To express yourself needs a reason, but expressing yourself is the reason.

So, 70,000 thoughts. Some necessary, some optional and others (mostly all) totally springing up from your wild imagination. I am talking about the stuff you think of while in the shower, or right before you’re about to sleep. Now sometimes, we feel the urge to share one or two of these tens of thousands of thoughts with a friend or a family member. That is when you tell Facebook ‘what’s on your mind’ or bug your mom with your “totally pointless thoughts”. So how does ranting on or mashing your keyboard about what you think, help you? And if you aren’t already, why should you speak more often in public or write a 300 page status update once in a while?

  1. Expression helps you rightfully pour out precious talent. You might be awesome at expressing your views vocally or via words and may even be presenting it in the wrong place. Think about it, you had this crazy idea about an awesome way astronauts can play video games in space, but instead of telling someone relevant, you wrote it all in your English essay, and got a zero. Or you probably gave a 20 minute speech on binary code to a bunch of football jocks during halftime. Now I’m not saying you should get a zero on your English essay or angry a bunch of football players in the middle of a serious game, but whenever you have something to say, and its an appropriate place to convey yourself (don’t talk to yourself in the middle of an interview), DO NOT HESITATE! Let your words flow, whether via a pen or your (beautiful) voice. When you do this, you ensure that all the awesome stuff your brain produces everyday, doesn’t go down the drain. Your thoughts are too valuable to be lost!
  2. Helps defeat fear of rejection. When you begin formulating your abstract ideas into words, you gain confidence and the freedom to express yourself without being afraid. Some of us may feel hesitant to present our thoughts to everyone, while others may feel that they’ll be booed of the stage for sharing their worthless and boring philosophies (I can relate), But trust me, no philosophy is worthless and no idea unworthy of sharing. In time, you’ll realize that expressing yourself is like taking a picture, it helps you retain a strong memory in your mind that you can always look back on and rejoice.
  3. Helps lose social awkwardness. Somewhat. If you’re not a total bongo like me, you will soon discover that once you start expressing yourself, it becomes a lot more easier to speak to people and listen to their personal views. Expression is the best way to let people know who you truly are, via your own words.

Once you start writing/speaking you’ll discover that there are truly no limits to how you can convey an idea. If you’re still reading, you’ll probably be thinking that all I wanted to say was that expressing yourselves is probably a good idea, but I went on to write a 600 page blog post. No regrets whatsoever. Here’s a potato.

Go ahead, click on it, watch the magic.

Holiday Survival Guide

ITS HOLIDAYS! YOUR EXCITEMENT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO CONTAIN AND YOU COULDN’T POSSIBLY BE HAPPIER!

Don't worry you're not (entirely) alone

Definitely try Yoga.

…..aaand this feeling lasts for about an average of 2 hours.

Then you are either lost, bored, overeating on a lot of ice cream or usually all three.

Every time we get time off more than the average weekends, we tend to lose direction of things and just throw ourselves on to every unhealthy, crazy and sometimes, socially unacceptable activity we are capable of. This may include eating 20 packets of Cheetos a day (don’t be surprised), sleeping for a straight 36 hours (yes!) or the no-showering-for-a-week challenge (come on, you never did that?)

But, apart from the (seemingly) endless freedom and craziness, what good does staying at home do to you? Remember these 3 tips and make your holiday worth remembering.

  • Self Discovery/Improvement 101

Holidays give you a chance to explore and discover someone you’ve been forever living with and yet do not know the half of. Yourself. In our day-to-day lives, we tend to be so over-preoccupied with things that we forget to step out of the usual and try something new. I for one, never knew that I could possible ever, ever I say, write a second blog post. And yet, here I am, discovering something new about myself, someone I thought I couldn’t know more about.

So don’t spend (all) your free time eating Doritos or trying to drink 64 ounces of soda in an hour, go ahead, try out something new, something you thought you could do but never got the time or motivation to. Write a book, make a viral YouTube video or why not learn a new language!

It doesn’t have to be learning or doing something new. You may try improving yourself at something you already do, finally run a 5k after months of jogging or set a personal goal of getting better at cooking, this is the time you will never regain and if you don’t spend it well, then you’ll keep wishing you had.

Just remember, holidays are all about enjoying yourself, but adding a pinch of productivity and self-improvement to the fun is definitely something you will never regret.

  • Recharge, Recharge, Recharge!

Whenever you take a leave, or are given one, the main purpose of it is to help you recuperate, get better and ready for the challenges that will pile up as soon as this holiday ends. So don’t over-exhaust yourself trying to get everything done and definitely DO NOT DRINK 64 OUNCES OF SODA IN AN HOUR. It could get you hospitalized or worse, you could never be able to drink soda again. And finally..

  • Do what you love!

There is no better way to freshen up, feel awesome and make a holiday more worthwhile. This is the best time to go on a 12 hour PlayStation/shopping spree or watch your favorite television show or just chill at the beach. I SAY THIS AGAIN, DO NOT DRINK 64 OUNCES OF SODA AND DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT ATTEMPT THE CINNAMON CHALLENGE.

^^

Why I (and probably you) can’t blog

When it comes to writing blogs, I may be the biggest failure around. I enjoy expressing my views through words and voice but I’ve been more proficient in the latter in the past few years than the former. This may be because

  1. I do not understand WordPress. Or Tumblr. Or Pinterest. or any social networking/blogging site I have ever StumbledUpon (yes, pun intended) apart from Facebook. I have tried a lot in the past but I just cannot get the hang of Hashtags or pinning images on a virtual board. And I believe the secret to Facebook’s immense success is its simplicity too, that’s why there are a billion people on it, where all other sites lag far behind.
  2. I feel people may not enjoy me ratting on about my views. After all, personal views are called personal for a reason, but then again, the reason why platforms such as these exist goes to show that yes, sometimes people do want to hear what others have to say.
  3. I don’t have any how-to tips. In fact, I survive on how-tos and lifehacks others tell me about. Now, people go read blogs because they help them out with their lives, and when something like this is just another pile to the thousands of things they have to read everyday, blogs don’t really work out.
  4. My writing skills aren’t so great. I mean, yes, I do love reading books and listening to awesome -quote- smothered speeches but when it comes to decorating my words, I’m just as bad as Nicki Minaj is with makeup (MASSIVE JK)
  5. I AM SUPRAULTRAMEGA LAZY. Yes yes, there you go, that is the true reason isn’t it? I just CANNOT go to this website and type in a 500 page blog, because you know, I’d rather have potato chips with some extra hot Nandos (you love that too, don’t you?)

All that being said, I think I may be finally here to stay. I have decided to set a goal of a minimum 1 blog post a day until the end of my vacations, that is, till the first of April. Now you may not agree with all my posts and some may even drive you insane due to the complexity, but don’t worry, I assure you, I don’t understand half the stuff that goes on in my head too. I may not even have any followers or readers, but I will write these to entertain myself when I look back on my sad teenage days from my humongous mansion in the Beverly Hills 60 years from today via my own Jarvis.

Okay, just kidding, I’m not such a big showoff, I think I’ll settle for a HAL9000 too.

So, now I’m off to explore this ultra complex toolbar on my right (and left) but I hope I figure it all out soon!

GOODBYEE FOLKS!
Oh by the way, my name is Jayesh (TOTALLY SLIPPED OUT OF MY MIND)
